Equal opportunities for women and girls

The Governor's Council on Women and Girls is a coordinated effort with community leaders that supports women, girls, and their families. This Working Group has a joint mission with The Office of the Governor, passionately led by Lt. Governor Susan Bysiewicz. The Council supports gender equality and opportunity in Connecticut.

Interagency Council for Ending the Achievement Gap

Eliminate academic achievement gaps in CT

The Interagency Council for Ending the Achievement Gap works with the Achievement Gap Task Force. They make plans to address:

  • Achievement gaps: Differences in how well students within various racial groups, ethnic groups, socioeconomic groups, and genders do in school. The Council also aims to address achievement gaps among English-language learners and students whose primary language is English.
  • Opportunity gaps: How things like race, ethnicity, money, knowing English, and other factors intersect with unequal sharing of resources and opportunities.

The Council meets often to plan, do things, and support all students in Connecticut to do well.

Complete census efforts

The Connecticut Complete Count Committee (CCCC) recognizes the importance of an accurate census count. The CCCC aims to:

  • Collaborate with community members
  • Analyze past census undercounts
  • Recommend strategies for future censuses
  • Ensure a full and complete census count
  • Support Local Complete Count Committees
